The offices of Marla Price, D.O., owner of Wyandotte Eye Clinic, and Thomas Byrd, M.D., owner of Byrd Eye Clinic previously located in Lincoln Park, now operate their separate practices from the current Wyandotte Eye Clinic location, 100 Oak St., in Wyandotte.
Now known as Byrd & Wyandotte Eye Clinic, you can expect to see little change, especially in the exceptional level of care you’ve always received from us throughout the years. Dr. Thomas Byrd has been proudly providing the highest level of care to patients since 1990. Dr. Byrd began performing laser vision correction in 1989 as an investigator for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and he remains at the forefront of LASIK surgery, cataract treatments, and comprehensive eye care services. Dr. Byrd was born in Trenton, MI, and attended Trenton High School. After graduating, he earned his bachelor of science and medical doctorate degrees at the University of Michigan. Once he completed his education and residency, Dr. Byrd earned a competitive, globally renowned fellowship in corneal treatment at Louisiana State University. During his two-year tenure in this program, he mentored under Drs. Herbert E. Kaufman and Maguerite McDonald, trailblazers in the arena of laser vision correction. In addition, he was also chosen as co-investigator for an FDA study on the efficacy and safety of the VISX™ laser.
Dr. Byrd then went on to serve as the Director of Cornea Service at the Henry Ford Health System, sharing his knowledge with students and other surgeons. Dr. Byrd left Henry Ford Health System to create what would become the Byrd Eye Clinic. As the only fellowship-trained corneal and refractive specialist in the area, he proudly uses his expertise to serve patients in his childhood community and downriver.
